چکیده

This study presents an efficient beam formulation for static and vibration analysis of 2D non-prismatic beams with the kinematic assumptions Timoshenko theory. Beams having complex configurations can be straightforwardly constructed by using B-spline basis functions, which are used descriptions axis sectional height. feature enables free-form strong curvatures to performed conveniently accurately, is not virtually found in any existing formulations that related beams. The concept isogeometric adopted discretizing unknowns, i.e., translational displacements rotation, functions. A procedure recovery stress components also presented. accuracy performance developed approach assessed through several numerical examples cover types beam, e.g., sinusoidal tapered Tschirnhausen's representing Furthermore, convergence tests demonstrate properties proposed formulation.

An Efficient Finite Element Formulation Based on Deformation Approach for Bending of Functionally Graded Beams

Finite element formulations based generally on classical beam theories such as Euler-Bernoulli or Timoshenko. Sometimes, these two formulations could be problematic expressed in terms of restrictions of Euler-Bernoulli beam theory, in case of thicker beams due to non-consideration of transverse shear; phenomenon that is known as shear locking characterized the Timoshenko beam theory, in case of...

Non-prismatic Timoshenko-like beam model: Numerical solution via isogeometric collocation

The present paper combines an effective beam theorywith a simple and accurate numerical technique opening the door to the prediction of the structural behavior of planar beams characterized by a continuous variation of the cross-section geometry, that in general deeply influences the stress distribution and, therefore, leads to non-trivial constitutive relations. Accounting for these peculiar a...

3-node Basic Displacement Functions in Analysis of Non-Prismatic Beams

Purpose– Analysis of non-prismatic beams has been focused of attention due to wide use in complex structures such as aircraft, turbine blades and space vehicles. Apart from aesthetic aspect, optimization of strength and weight is achieved in use of this type of structures. The purpose of this paper is to present new shape functions, namely 3-node Basic Displacement Functions (BDFs) for derivati...

Stiffness Matrices for Axial and Bending Deformations of Non-Prismatic Beams with Linearly Varying Thickness

Siffness matrices for axial and bending deformations of a beam having a rectangular cross sectional area of constant width and linearly varying thickness are developed. A consistant load vector for a uniformly distributed lateral load is also calculated, using the principal of potential energy. The matrices are used to obtain numerical results for a variety of beams with non-uniform thickness t...
